
I was stopped at a stop light in Jamestown when I saw a beat up couch cushion lying in the road near all of the factories. I laughed and took a picture because only in good old Jamestown are you going to see something like that. As I got up the road a little further their was another cushion, it was like going on a scavenger hunt.

where is this insight coming from? it's like you've been this intellectual sandbagger and now that the kettle's on you've decided you're first in line for tea.
this stuff is remarkable. it shows 1] you're going out and looking for imagery, and 2] recognizing it when it presents itself. don't fool yourself- this is big work here- important work
it has a nicholas nixon/william eggelston simplicity- raw and at the same time honest- not hokey, not contrived.
